The teaching philosophy at Northridge Soccer Academy is that children
who learn from champions will become champions both on and off the field.
Nowhere will you find a more capable, competent, professional and fun-loving
coaching staff than at Northridge Soccer Academy. In fact, your children
will learn the game of soccer from a roster of champion college coaches
and players. Our coaching professionals make learning enjoyable and emphasize
"teaching through playing."

Co-Director of Camp Operations:
Derek Hanks Derek Hanks enters his first
year as an assistant for the Cal State Northridge women’s soccer
caching staff.
Derek was a four-year letter winner at Northridge (2002-06). The
two-time captain started 77 matches over his distinguished career
and finished seventh in the all-time ranks after playing in 78 matches.
Hanks received All Conference Honors 3 times, Honorable Mention
in 04 & 05 and First Team All Big West in 06.
Hanks prepped at El Camino Real in Woodland Hills Calif. Hanks
led his team to back-to-back City Championships in 01 & 02.
Received all league honors both years. Hanks played his club ball
with West Valley Samba under women’s Head Coach Keith West.
The defensive leader helped his team win the U.S.A. Cup in 01 and
Dallas Cup in 02.
Prior to working at Cal State Northridge, Hanks was a Varsity Assistant
at Calabasas High School in 03-04 and a Varsity Assistant at El
Camino Real High 04-07. Hanks is Currently perusing his B.S. in
Kinesiology at Cal State Northridge.

Co-Director of Camp Operations:
Peter Bomar
Peter Bomar enters his first year as an assistant
for the Cal State Northridge men’s soccer camp and will be working
with the goalkeepers.
As a player at Northridge he was a two year letter winner (06-07).
Bomar’s drive on and off the field was a pivotal part of the
teams defense, earning the respect of the staff and players. He was
named captain his final season at Northridge. He finished his career
with a 0.88 goal against average.
Bomar prepped at Crespi Carmelite HS where he was a 4 year letter
winner and 2 year captain. He was named All Mission League Goalkeeper
of the Year (2001-2003), All CIF (2002-2003), and NSCAA Western
All American (2002-2003).
Bomar graduated in the spring of 2008 with a degree in Business
Administration.

Senior Coach: Terry Davila
Terry Davila is the Director of Men's and Women's
Soccer at Northridge and is in his eighth season as the head coach
of the CSUN men's soccer team. Under Davila's direction, the Matador
men's team completed one of their most successful seasons in school
history. Northridge won its second Big West title in three years in
2005 and qualified for its fourth-consecutive NCAA Men's College Cup,
making it all the way to the Sweet 16. He has been named Big West
Coach of the Year each of the last three seasons (men: 2003, 2005;
women: 2004) and has coached 53 all-conference players, 11 All-Far
West Region athletes and three All-Americans. Davila
has served as the coaching director of the Valley United Soccer
Club (1999) and was the head coach of the Valley United Stars Soccer
Team (girls under 15) for five years. In the summer of 2001, Davila
led the West Valley Samba girls youth 16 and under squad to the
United States Youth Soccer Association's national title in Maryland.
In 2000, the Matador coach guided the Stars' Under 14 team to the
World Championships in Beaverton, Ore. He also coached the Stars'
Under 13 team for two years, compiling a 50-5-4 record and the 1999
California State Championship. Davila also served as the head coach
at Reseda High School (1990-95, 1998-99) and helped the Regents
to four West Valley League championships and three Valley Pac-8
titles. |

Assistant Coach:
Keith West Keith West is in his eighth
season as a member of the soccer coaching staff at Northridge and
will begin his first season at the helm of the women's soccer team
in 2006. West was an assistant for seven years on the men's side at
CSUN and began his time on the women's side as an assistant in 2004
and 2005. As the team's defensive coach, West has helped the Matador
men's team earn four straight trips to the NCAA Division I Tournament
thanks to a defense that has been ranked as one of the nation's toughest.
On the women's side, the Matadors have recorded back-to-back double-digit
win totals, including a school-record nine-match winning streak in
2005. The Northridge women also qualified for the Big West Tournament
for the first time in 2004. Prior to
his days at Northridge, West spent seven years as the assistant
coach of Harvard-Westlake High School's varsity girls' soccer team.
In addition, he served as the head coach of the boys' Valley United
Soccer Club for four years and the girls' Valley United Soccer Club
for one season. West currently coaches the West Valley Samba squad
that won the Dallas Cup tournament in 2002.

Assistant Coach:
Yossi Raz
Yossi Raz will begin his second season as a member
of the Northridge men's soccer coaching staff and his first as the
men's top assistant. In 2005, Raz aided the offensive attacks on
both the men's and women's soccer programs. The men's team won their
second Big West title in three years and qualified for their fourth-consecutive
NCAA Men's College Cup, making it all the way to the Sweet 16. On
the women's side, the Matadors won a school-record nine matches
in a row at one point during the season and were the second-best
goal-scoring offense in the Big West Conference with 41 goals.
Prior to his coaching days, Raz, a member of the Israeli
National Team, completed one of the most storied four-year careers
in the history of CSUN men's soccer. Raz earned All-Big West Conference
first-team honors each season, becoming the first player in league
history to receive first-team accolades all four years. The Natanya,
Israel native collected 22 goals and 28 assists in four seasons
for 72 points. The 28 assists rank him fifth on the all-time career
list. He is also eighth in points and third on the matches played
list with 78. |

Assistant Coach: Juan Plascencia
Juan Plascencia enters his fifth season as a
member of the Cal State Northridge men's soccer coaching staff.
He will assist in coaching the goalkeepers as well as helping out
with the rest of the team. Under the tutelage of Plascencia, Matador
goalkeepers have posted 27 shutouts over the last four seasons and
a 1.13 goals against average en route to four straight appearances
in the NCAA Tournament. Last season, Kevin Guppy earned Big West
Goalkeeper of the Year honors, the second Matador to receive the
accolade in the last four years (Joe Barton, 2002).
Plascencia was a two-year letterwinner at Northridge
(1998-99). He played in 14 matches, starting six during his two
years. During his time in goal, he posted a 5-4 record with a 2.32
goals against average and two shutouts. Plascencia's best season
came in 1999, when he posted a 1.86 GAA in nine matches.
Plascencia prepped at Notre Dame High School
in Sherman Oaks, Calif. The two-time team captain earned All-Mission
League second-team honors in 1995 and '96, first team accolades
in 1997 and was an All-Area selection and Mission League Goalkeeper
MVP in 1998.
Prior to working at Cal State Northridge, Plascencia
has coached for the West Valley Samba as well as for Viewpoint,
Notre Dame, Harvard Westlake and Louisville High Schools. Plascencia
is currently working toward attaining his degree at Cal State Northridge.
