What
types of camps does Northridge Soccer Academy offer?
We offer three types of camps. We offer five weeks of Recreational Camp
for children ages 5-14 who want to learn the game of soccer, improve their
game and athletic ability and have FUN! We also offer two weeks of Advanced
Camp for ages 9-17 where competitive play is emphasized. Teams and club
players are encouraged to attend the Advanced Camp sessions. Our one-week
High School Camp is designed for those currently attending or entering
high school in 2005 and have competitive soccer experience.
My child has never played soccer. Can he/she attend
camp?
Absolutely! You should consider registering your child for one of our
Recreational Camp sessions. We have coaches trained to introduce children
to the game of soccer and teach them the rules of the game and the fundamentals
of soccer technique and play. Because we also offer swimming, your child
will have a full camp experience while playing the fabulous game of soccer.
My child is an advanced soccer player. Can he/she
attend camp?
Absolutely! You should consider registering your child for one of our
Advanced Camp sessions. Our coaches can help improve the technical and
tactical play of advanced players, club players and those seeking to play
club soccer. Campers will be exposed to college coaches and upon request,
a camper can receive an evaluation by a senior coach at the end of a week’s
session.
How are the campers grouped during training sessions?
On the field, campers will be separated in part by age and by skill level.
If a player seems unchallenged in his/her own age group, he/she may be
moved to an older or more advanced group. We will honor all requests to
have children who want to be together with family members or friends as
long as the players have similar skill levels.
Who will be coaching?
Your children will learn the game of soccer from a roster of champion
coaches. Our staff includes current NCAA Division I Head Coaches, current
and former NCAA Division I players, A-licensed coaches, current men and
women CSUN soccer players, and former professional and semi-pro players
from North America, South America, and Europe. Our coaching professionals
make learning enjoyable and emphasize “teaching through playing”.
Where is the camp location?
Centrally located in the heart of the San Fernando Valley, Northridge
Soccer Academy will utilize the impeccably maintained soccer fields of
the Cal State Northridge men and women’s soccer teams. We will utilize
the NCAA Division I North Campus Stadium as well as the Zelzah/ Plummer
Practice Field. Parking for the camp will be in Lot G4 on Zelzah Ave.
between Prairie Street and Plummer Street.
What type of supervision do you provide?
The safety of your children is our #1 priority. The soccer fields are
fully enclosed with 10-foot high fences. There is one way in and one way
out of both of the facilities. In other words, your children will be safe,
secure and carefully supervised. The children will have the chance to
swim each day under the careful supervision of our trained lifeguards.
The pools are conveniently located near the soccer facilities and near
the air-conditioned cafeteria where we will eat our lunches. All activities
at lunch, the Ice Cream Parlor and the arcade will be carefully supervised.
Coaches will have cell phones to contact parents if a camper is too tired
to continue their camp day or in the case of any injury.
